While Lukie tried to organize the poker tourney
(17 players – yikes), Pops and Deano
found some old J&B Scotch and mixed up some crazy old time drink and
smoked cigars on the deck.
About 7:30 PM, things finally
got
underway with Doll and
Nascar Paul joining in the action
with most of the Pro-am golfers.
Witzee and his Kid were not
the first two players out for a change but a lot of people went out early
and there were a record number of rebuys (about 7) which made for a nice
pot. Shane-e-boy,
Burnzee and
Christian went out early. Witzee was next to go when he hit trip aces
on the flop and gator hit the
straight on the river - ain’t that a shame.
Lukie also tried to go all in
with gator but got knocked out.
Pops got knocked out next but
he didn’t seem to mind too much.
Sweat,
Jimi, and
Clay went out soon thereafter and
the final table was set with the Doll, L’il Witzee,
Deano the chip leader, Nascar
Paul, Gator, Torch and
Security Boy. The Doll was
avoiding confrontation and Nascar paul was just taking it easy has his
wife came along to make sure he
didn’t have any fun – surprisingly enough her name is Patty.
Security Boy was having the time
of his life. L’il Witz didn’t last very long and then Torch and Deano,
the 2 chip leaders, had a massive showdown with Dean pulling it out on the
river and extinguishing the Torch (see what I did there). Now deano had
an almost insurmountable chip lead with just 5 players left. Security was
next to go and then the doll went out in 4th place – just out
of the money. Deano had over 70 percent of the chips with Gator and
Nascar Paul remaining. This is when things got a little fuzzy especially
for Dean. Nascar raised him $400 and dean didn’t want to put the chips in
the pot. After some posturing and some finger pointing, some one
suggested that dean put the chips in the pot and Dean answered with a
burnzesque tantrum throwing all his chips at Paul and saying “you want
chips – here, have some”. Fisticuffs nearly ensued but one of the Howard
boys stepped in and restored order.
The boys kissed and made up and the Commissioner (I think it was
Witzee) declared Dean the third place finisher and no sooner than this was
declared, Paul and Gator decided to split the 1st and 2nd
place money and end things before someone changed their mind. Then it
was out to the back porch to review
all the antics of the card game
but it wasn’t long before another game started up in the kitchen.
This time it was “man or mouse”
and Torch and Josey set about separating
Gator from his poker winnings.
Witzee joined in the fray but at a $20 “match the pot” game he was quite
the mouse and got out quickly. It was getting on to about 3 AM when Torch
thought this would be a good time to teach everyone a new card game – “tickle
the bull.” Torchie wanted to play for Hundreds but we talked him down
to twenties and after a few rounds the Howard family wiped him out and we
decided to hit the sack at about 4 AM with a 6 AM wake up call looming.
Apparently, the thief formerly known as the
Lasagna Bandit struck while
everyone was sleeping.
